Dear Colleague:

ABC-CLIO, which recently acquired Greenwood Press and Praeger

Publishing, is continuing its 3-volume encyclopedia project on the War

of 1812, which is to be published in 2012, its bicentennial year.  While

we have made good progress to date on the work, there are still numerous

topics that have yet to be unassigned.  

These essays will be used in a variety of products beyond the printed

encyclopedia, including interactive web sites, almanacs, chronologies,

etc.  They are designed to appeal to a broad audience, including

academics, students, and general readers.  

ABC-CLIO, a publisher with more than 50 years of experience in

historical reference publishing, has won many awards for its books and

publications.  Our Military History Series has earned the Editor's

Choice Award from Booklist for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and the

Distinguished Achievement Award for 2006 (United States at War

database), among many others.  With its recent acquisition of Greenwood

and Praeger, the company now controls over 18,000 titles, all of which

are available to our contributors.

The due dates are somewhat flexible, but we generally prefer to receive

completed essays within 60 days of their assignment.  ALL should be

submitted by June 15, 2010, however.
